Today, I am in a Rut.
I wonder how much time we spend in ruts… Wonder if there’s an average. Or what’s a rut. What’s a rut? I’ve been staring at screens and walls and chairs and mirrors, and interacting with them, or avoiding them, or testing them. But also ignoring them. And this music has been playing, and I’ve been listening, but not listening. The messages are clear and interesting and altogether unmoving still. Though, I’ve always been one to be moved. Pushed, or gently coerced, or thrown off a cliff, what ever. We all persuade at different magnitudes, eh?
This is a conversation I should be having… “Head in the clouds, feet on the ground”, and all that. Or maybe I have it the other way around. Going no where, not paying attention… Losing circulation, probably having people write silly message on my bum. How rude. I feel so silly right now. I should though, ‘cause, where do I get off not being successful? Just goes to show you there’s no threshold for success that’s universal. There’s no “I’m smart therefore I win”, or “I’m awesome, therefore awesome things”, or anything, unless you call everything awesome. Which isn’t uncommon.
What a silly thing… emphasis. I like it, but it’s horrible. Profanity accentuates intent despite it being often completely unrelated. And using double negatives. Simple sentences are unemphatic, even if the if information itself is staggering. Just fixed a typo… Mm.
I’m listening to this song, “We Don’t Care”. There’s this recurring line where the guy goes “WHAT THE FAAAA!?” in this sort of lower-class British accent. I fuckin’ love it.
When I turn 19 in… seven days I’ll be starting my journal. Some of you may recall it, my mother got me a handbound hardcover full book sized journal full of blankness and horizontal direction. Why the arbitrary date? Eh, “now” is just as arbitrary, so I’m either impulsive or meticulous, and meticulous has more letters… impulsive… meticulous… Yea, one more letter.
So in seven days, when I start, I intend for the first entry to be “I feel great”. I only hope it’s not some bloody sarcasm.
Oh yea I unlinked this from my Facebook… Sorry, there are some of you I just don’t give enough of a fuck about to entertain. But I’m still going to tag this so random people can find it. I fucking love you random people, keep making me smile.

How do you Organize your Music Playlists?
I always make the one for like my favorites or what ever, stuff I like singing, blah blah the obvious stuff, but what about for all the rest of your music? Do you… just shuffle your whole library and skip stuff you don’t like at the moment? ‘Cause I like to turn to a certain playlist and have the music I feel like come out constantly. I use iTunes, so I setup a playlist folder titled “Mood Music”, and then I have four playlists in it:
- Calming: slower, more sombre music of all sorts of kinds. I listen to a lot of soundtracks and such so a lot of them go here. They’re good for reading or for thinking, nothing to intrusive but it keeps you from feeling like you’re just in a silent box.
- Groovin: stuff with beats, electronics, dance, hip-hop (what of it I listen to), stuff I can really get into and burst out in random embarrassing dance with. These are usually my favorite songs that elevate my mood or go well with games that I just generally enjoy. Good driving music, good biking music.
- Energetic: lots of louder, faster music that gets the pace going. I listen to this when I’m mad or when I’m really happy ‘cause I can really get into it! It’s fun and great for playing like FPS games or crazy racing games or for working out. Rock and electronica go in here.
- Relaxin: not quite calming, more the hybrid of groovin and calming. Meant for things like drawing or working on homework, it’s not too intrusive but also entertains the brain and gives you something to sing if you can do calculus and sing at the same time.
I’d say the logic is pretty straightforward, I can’t really explain it beyond trying to get playlists that fit moods/activities. Anything I might be missing? Or, if this setup works for you, anything you personally would add? What do you think in general?
De Blob 2: Underground - Bringing back the Color
I LOVE De Blob. I love the idea of a game where you play as a blob that can inherit color and paint over a beautiful city that’s been tarnished by monotony and colorlessness. It’s such a vibrant, passionate idea that’s clearly a shot to our current society with big business, marketing and etc. roping everyone together in big ugly labels, constantly trying to dodge the importance of freedom and color and music. The idea of it is truly inspiring, and the gameplay in the first one wasn’t half bad. Check out the trailer below:
If you couldn’t gather from the trailer, De Blob 2: Underground is a platforming game due out for the 360, PS3, DS and Wii. De Blob’s first incarnation was Wii-exclusive with motion controls and all, and in general was a great idea. An idea, however, that wasn’t fully fleshed out. There were these buildings you had to capture, but all you had to do was collect a ton of paint and then shake it up inside, then you were done. Well they came back and said no, you can’t just gather paint, you have to go into 2D mode and take on all new challenges within those buildings! It adds a lot of depth to the game’s already solid design and hopefully will give it more value.
Speaking of value, the game will only be $49.99 for the 360/PS3! How amazing is that? Very gutsy of THQ to release a game ten dollars less than the traditional price point, but I definitely am going to get this game. I was on the fence, but that’s definitely a good deal. You’ve got the awesome platforming gameplay (how often does the 360 get a decent platformer?), a co-op mode similar to Super Mario Galaxy’s (to include your partner/children/etc.), a vivacious, colourful and musical world to paint and even competitive multiplayer modes. De Blob’s original multiplayer was pretty fun splitscreen, and I can’t wait to see what else will show up in the new one.
If you’re into games that are fun with some tried-and-true platforming mechanics for solidarity, a unique, lively world to house it all and a $10 cheaper price point to top it all off, I seriously recommend giving this game a try.
I thought to get Bulletstorm, it looked really awesome and thrilling, but… Man, De Blob’s just got such an awesome vibe to it. I can’t pass that up!
Blame it on terror. Computer error.
The east and west coast and the post-consumer era.
The mayor, the president. The air, the elements.
Whatever’s relevant but never look in to your mirror.
What you want, what you need is to be blameless.
Don’t blame the DJ, it’s the playlist. Cause blame is a slutty word.
Ex-planation, ex-ecution, ex-cuse share the same ‘ex’.

I sit in my cell,
Fly, the wind it will take me.
Back to my home, sweet home.
Lie on my back,
Clouds are making way for me,
I’m coming home, sweet home.
I see your star, you left it burnin’ for me
Mother, I’m here.
Eyes open wide,
Feel your heart and it’s glowin’
I’m welcome home, sweet home.
I take your hand,
Now you’ll never be lonely,
Not when I’m home, sweet home.
I see your star, you left it burnin’ for me
Mother, I’m here.
